What are some golf clubs for beginners the best?

I'm looking for some clubs that will not fall apart for $ 200 or less. Maybe thing exists? I'm a beginning player and looking for my first set. My friends tell me to look on Ebay for clubs, and also look for older models of brands like Ping and Titleist (still brand new clubs). The only problem with that is that I'm having trouble finding what older models are named, and when they left. Does anyone have any specific suggestions of clubs and brands of quality? I would venture to 250, but only if I find an awesome deal. Thanks a bazillion!
